INTERVIEW WITH THE KOOL KIDS KLUB

Three years ago in a small, dingy basement in Southend, Essex, The Kool Kids Klub was formed off the back of boredom in a small town and a growing love for dance music. Since then, they’ve hosted and welcomed renowned DJ’s from all over the world such as Riva Starr, Brodinski, A-Trak, Jack Beats, with great success. We recently managed to catch an interview with George Smith, the co-founder of The Kool Kids Klub. Interview after the jump.

DJ BENZI & DIPLO PRESENT: MANSIONS ON THE MOON ‘PARADISE FALLS’

Discobelle: Mansions On The Moon’s Mixtape - ‘Paradise Fall’ is now available for free download.

“The Echo Park trio formed a little over a year ago and they have since collaborated with N*E*R*D, Diplo, Benzi & Willy Joy, and Xaphoon Jones (Chiddy Bang). Their debut mixtape “Paradise Fall”, presented by Diplo and DJ Benzi illustrates the wide range of Mansions on the Moon’s capabilities. The fusion of Mansions’ electro indie pop into a trip-hop flavored mixtape shows this band has huge things on the horizon. Keep an eye out for their debut original album and tour dates in the early part of 2011.

SAMSON: NOVEMBER PROMO MIXTAPE

Twenty-two year old Bournemouth based producer, promoter and DJ Samson has just polished off his November Promo Mixtape, and it’s brilliant. His August edition was something special, but somehow he’s topped it with tracks from the likes of Mic Newman, Jef K, Iron Curtis, Bonar Bradberry and more. In unsurprising considering he’s spun alongside Justice, Timo Mass, Riva Starr, Brodinski, Santos and more. Also, he recently informed us that he’s started an alias with a friend called ‘Wetrooms’, and we’re proud to announce that they’ve confirmed a guestmix with AO-AO. JACQUES GREENE - SORTED

The mysterious Montreal young-talent Jacques Greene will very soon be officially one of the hottest names in the scene, as both his release on LuckyMe (‘The Look’) and the already highly anticipated Baby I Don’t Know (What You Want) (on Night Slugs) are due to finally be released towards the end of the month. This is a name none of us should loose sight of. He was kind enough to give out this new acid-house gem created, according to Greene himself, during a set of afternoon live jamming.

XLR8R PODCAST 172: LIL SILVA

XLR8R:

“London producer Lil Silva may be young, but he’s already made a mark on the UK music scene. He’s been championed by Marcus Nasty, his Night Skanker EP on Night Slugs added to the label’s already impressive talent roster, and the guy just keeps pushing forward. His production combines a high-energy take on grime and UK funky with a knowledge of American house that results in some seriously potent tunes. Now, as Lil Silva gets ready to release a new EP, Patience, next month on the freshly minted Good Years label, he’s stepped up and joined the ranks of the XLR8R podcast series. Strap in while Lil Silva blasts through a number of speaker-rattling selections, including several of his own remixes and unreleased productions, along with ear-pleasing tracks from fellow UK bass aficionados DVA, Redlight, MJ Cole, and more.” Tracklisting after the jump.

AO-AO GUESTMIX 011: VHYCE + INTERVIEW

Bio:

Belgian based tech-house prince Vhyce is now gaining support from the likes of Savage Skulls, Beataucue, Mikix The Cat, Andy George, Highbloo, and Brodinski. In 2010, he’s gone from finishing his first track to getting signed by Sweat It Out! to having his productions been played by Erol Alkan. A chaotic year. He’s also remixed Yolanda Be Cool’s ‘We No Speak Americano’ along with remixes for Lee Motimer, Tim Corin and Hector & Nate. He was generous enough to do both a mix filled with goodies as well as an interview. The mix can be streamed on Mixcloud below, with a download link for those of you who want to portably listen to this. Interview after the jump.

NIGHT SLUGS ALL-STARS VOL. 1

Many of us have waited for this moment - November 29th is marked for the release of some previously unheard/unreleased anthems from the UK Nights Slugs crew. Looking back at the start of 2010, opening the new year with Mosca’s Square One including massive remixes etc, and comparing to today, with Girl Unit’s freshly dropped Wut, it’s safe to say that Night Slugs heads Alex Sushon (Bok Bok) and James Connolly (L-Vis 1990) have indeed come a long, long way, kicking off with great success. Night Slugs All Stars Vol. 1 aims at selecting the finest of the finest tunes that they have to offer for us, or, another way of looking at it, aims at giving us a teaser of just what exactly the crew has pulled up their mighty sleeves. A flashback in time, with a choice of early releases, and a projection into the future, of what awaits us. Safely assumable that Night Slugs are the label of the year.

Tracklisting:

01:  Mosca – Square One VIP
02:  Lil Silva – Golds 2 Get
03:  Girl Unit – IRL (Bok Bok Remix)
04:  Kingdom – Bust Broke
05:  L-Vis 1990 & T. Williams – Stand Up
06:  Jam City – Arpjam
07:  Lil Silva – Seasons
08:  Egyptrixx – Liberation Front
09:  Bok Bok & Cubic Zirconia – Reclash Dub
10:  Optimum – Broken Embrace
11:  Jacques Greene – (Baby I Don’t Know) What You Want
12:  Velour – Booty Slammer

GUCCI MANE - NORMAL

It’s hard not to nod your head to the subtle flow of Gucci Mane’s beats. His track Normal surely isn’t an exception. The mellow mood swings all listeners into a slow motioned trance of ecstatic listening vibes. “Nothing that I do is normal”, says Gucci. Already the proportions in which he operates justifies his claim. As long as it remains a normality that his tracks don’t fail to satisfy, we concur to his exclamations. That’s abnormal.
